It’s not that God needs us in order to accomplish His plans. He doesn’t. It’s like me asking my 2-year-old daughter to “help me” put sprinkles on a birthday cake. I don’t need her, but I want to share in the joy of creating something yummy. In the same ways, God wants to brush shoulders with us. He wants to look over and see our smile. He wants to watch out eyes light up as we stand back and behold something beautiful.
However, His invitations are much more wonderful than decorating a fresh cake. He invites us to be a part of redemption (2 Corinthians 5:18). He wants us to pray for & take an active role in bringing His Kingdom to earth (Matthew 6:10). Our Father wants us up close and personal as He brings life from death and shines light in the darkness.
“Mommy, when can I have work gloves?” This has been a repeated question at our house recently because N wants to be able to help me clean up our yard.
Wait. Is that our attitude? Are we asking to get dirty so that we can be closer with our Creator? Are we begging to join Him in the work He is doing?
Lord, give me this heart!
I have recently started to grasp that the pleasures of knowing God are not simply in knowing Him in creation & vacation & comfortable things. Knowing Him means pursuing what He loves, running from what He hates and going with Him into the darkness in order to share in the glory of His victorious light.
