Survival Sunday: Our Secret (Cleaning) Weapon

Have you ever thought about what your secret weapon might be? Do you actually have a secret weapon? πŸ˜‰ The closest thing in our house to a secret weapon is our handheld vacuum! Yes, that’s right. The little guy can reverse a disgusting mess in a matter of seconds. Dust, hair, crumbs, you name it. Boom. Gone.

Unfortunately, our handheld vacuum lived its first years in hibernation before we realized its hidden, humble talent. We were miraculously given one as a wedding gift…or at least, I don’t remember registering for it.

A few years later, Brandon had a lightbulb moment and pulled it out, opening the box, to clean up after shaving his (long) beard. We were AMAZED. For so long, he had tried to clean up the hair with damp paper towels, sacrificing half a roll for each big shave. Then, suddenly, we had a better way. Our life was forever changed!! (too dramatic?)

Here are our favorite uses for the handheld vac:

  1. Hair. If you have a bearded man in the house, I am URGING you to buy one. Now.
  2. Dirt or dust stuck in small cracks. Am I the only one who struggles with visible crevices in my kitchen appliances collecting crumbs?
  3. Baby crumbs & quick clean-ups between meals. Easier than sweeping!
  4. Baseboard dust. Run the vac along the baseboards and then wipe with a magic eraser. Waaa-la!
  5. Car seats! Get the crumbs without having to haul out a big vacuum or take out the seats.

If you have a handheld vacuum, what do you use it for?! If you don’t, consider adding it to your Christmas list. πŸ˜‰
